About the Exhibition:
”A moment before” is the new Ganzo exhibition that opens July 20 and showcases 22 photos by Damiano Bonfitto. The exhibit calls attention to the instance before something happens: Bonfitto takes that moment and expands it to illuminate and freeze the situation, like hitting pause in a movie. The exhibit incorporates a series of objects and people: tattooed arms wrapped around another body, where the viewer is left to imagine what will happen next, or a silent phone on a white wall, waiting for a call that may never come or a call that could change someone’s life… The photos evoke different emotions, from anxiety to excitement, uncertainty is always on the wire: Will it happen? Will I like it? Who’s behind that door? The series puts hesitation on different moments of life, with perhaps an invitation to stop and think before making the final decision.

Artist Bio:
Damiano Bonfitto is from Valdisieve, an area just east of Florence, and he has been practicing photography for over 25 years. He has a Master’s Degree in Law and works in public administration. His passion started with a secondhand camera bought at a flea market: since then, he has taken pictures of people and the world around them. Damiano is member of the “Fotografi del Levante,” a photography association, which stimulated him to cultivate his interest in the field.
