May 16th – August 6th, 2011
Caro spent time exchanging ideas with students, with fellow artists in town, in Tuscany and in Italy, and with professionals within the art world. As a professor at FUA, she taught Digital Photography at DIVA, concentrating on the concepts of mapping the city and the horizon, which she and her students recorded in blog or visual diary. The residence allowed her to interpret Florence and its surroundings through her art making process. Caro participated in F_AIR’s exhibit, called The Summer Issue, which was on show from 14 June until 12 July. Prior to the exhibit Caro held an artist talk revolving on the topic of the artist residencies with fellow artist Valerio Ricci.
For her final project based on blindness, Christiana Caro, assisted by Andrea Matteini, researched at the Florentine National Center for Blind People and at the Alinari National Museum of Photography. This was presented on July 19th in the exhibit entitled This That-Region.
