September 18th – October 14th, 2012
Di punto in bianco, tutto d’un tratto, improvvisamente is a solo exhibition of Federica Gonnelli, who’s show involves investigating a declination of the color white, through the use of light, elegant and incorporeal materials, such as tulle and veils. Transparency as a means to allude rather than stating, an excuse to observe from close up – in a world which to the contrary, creates barriers and physical distances, is a common characteristic of all the works on display. The presence of majestic female figures, silk-screened on black and white organza curtains which dominate the gallery space: they are ghost-like guardians of a secret noises. In the far end, an animated projection immerses the viewer into a kaleidoscope of cold glass slivers.
Federica Gonnelli, a young Florentine artist has exhibited internationally gaining worldwide attention after a solo show in Arezzo, celebrating the centenary of art historian Giorgio Vasari.
Last spring Federica was the winner of the gAT award, for young talented Tuscan artists, promoted by Artour-o il Must, and curated by Andrea Granchi. The first prize involving a solo exhibition. Di punto in bianco, tutto d’un tratto, improvvisamente is the outcome of the first edition of gAT, in 2012.
The exhibition is supported by a booklet with a critical text by Matteo Innocenti
